Planning Applications

A Brief Guide to Planning

Little Houghton Parish Council as statutory consultee of South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) is asked to comment on all planning applications within the Parish.  The District Council must take into account, but not necessarily follow, the views or recommendations of the Parish Council.

The Parish Council is consulted for its local knowledge but DOES NOT determine a Planning Application.  This is the role of the planning committee at SNC (made up of District Councillors) or sometimes by the Planning Officers using delegated powers.  Their decisions are based upon Planning Policies set out in the Local Plan, Planning Policy Statements and Government Guidance.

How do I view plans?

• Either online through SNC planning website
• At the offices of SNC at Springfields, Towcester
• By appointment with the Clerk to the Parish Council: Selena Jacobs 07900577520

All planning applications are sent from SNC for consideration by the Parish Council at either their next Parish Council meeting if time permits (we have a period of 21 days to respond) or a planning meeting will be held for that purpose.  Notifications of planning applications received and dates of meetings are advertised on the Parish Council notice board.
